Aria Rose, la più giovane discendente di una delle due famiglie dominanti rivali di Mystic City, si ritrova fidanzata con Thomas Foster, figlio dei nemici giurati dei suoi genitori. L'unione tra i due giovani darà fine alla lunga faida tra le due famiglie e unire tutti coloro che vivono nelle Aeries, la ricca classe privilegiata della società, in contrasto con i mistici banditi che vivono negli Abissi, sotto la città. Ma Aria non ricorda di essersi innamorata di Thomas, infatti si sveglia un giorno con enormi lacune di memoria. E non riesce a capire perchè i suoi genitori hanno deciso di unirsi alla famiglia Foster. Solo quando Aria incontra Hunter, un bellissimo ribelle che viene dagli Abissi, inizia ad avere un barlume di ricordo e capisce che Hunter è la chiave per svelare il suo passato. Le scelte che Aria dovrà fare potranno salvare o condannare la Società e se stessa.
